It’s not raining, I better take advantage
Today was pretty cold. The first day I’ve worn gloves so far. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any light or even small gloves, and I had to go with my bulky snowboarding gloves. They weren’t bad, but they were so thick and big, they kind of bounced. They also didn’t feel ‘warm’ necessarily, but I’m sure they helped.
I went five park laps today also. I’ve ran that far before, but it was the first time this month. I decided to push it a little bit on the uphill side of the park. It’s not very steep at all, but the slight incline, coupled with a little extra ‘umph’ was plenty to leave me very winded when I got to the top. I walked it out for about 100 yards and took off at a light jog again. Rinse and repeat. I read recently about how interval training is supposed to be better for fat loss, and that mixing it up with higher intensity bursts will supposedly get you back into cardio-vascular shape quicker. So, that’s what I’m trying to do. Also, I’ve had problems with shin splints in the past, and so I’m determined to take it easy until I get a little more comfortable with the running. The extra weight I’m carrying isn’t going to help anything either.
When I think of it, I try and incorporate a little of what I’ve read about Chi Running; Lean forward, keep your upper body straight, don’t extend your heel to catch you, but try and land on your mid-sole and keep the momentum going. It’s hard because I always forget, and find myself doing the slow jog I’ve done my whole life.
At the end of the run, I got back to the car at 39 minutes, including quick warm-up and quick cool-down. Back at the house, the scale gave me a satisfying 231.2 lbs. Not major progress, but better than last weeks 236.

hi how long should hiit last on a bike?

I use to be just like that. I talked to this personal trainer one day and he said the best way to stay motivated is to make a journal of exactly what you do every single day. Honestly it really work when I looked at it on paper it was different. When you see no improvement on paper in terms of reps, sets, and distance and haven’t done anything you feel like a lazy asshole that day then get motivated to get on them running shoes and pull out the wieghts.

Hi, I did a google on HIIT as I want to add it to my routine. Like you, I hated running. Notice the past tense. I now like running because I’m now on a hormonally balanced diet called the Zone Diet. You can google it for more information, but it is a moderate, balanced diet that yields amazing results. Joslin Diabetes Centers recommends a diet that is almost identical. Dr. Sears, the creator, has worked with athletes that have brought home 24 gold medals. Jenny Thompson was the most prolific Zoner medalist and her count was just surpassed by Michael Phelps a day or two ago.
Christian Vande Velde is a Zoner - he recently finished 5th in the Tour de France.
I’d also recommend spending some google time on “pose running.” It has helped me a lot, but takes some time to get your calf muscle strong enough to support the work load.
I’m a decade your senior and I feel better than ever - and I mean this factually. I really really do feel better than ever. I effortlessly lost 25+ lbs of fat while adding ~70 lbs to my bench press - I started pretty weak.
My foundation is the Zone Diet, pose running is a great tool and I hope to add HIIT as another tool in my arsenal.
Best of luck in your exercise adventures.
