Bad Runner

I hate running. But I'm committed to it. This is the blog of my progress.

Nutrisystem Nourish - is it right for men?

I have to be honest, I’ve thought about getting the Nutrisystem Nourish program. I saw the commercials on TV, thought about it, saw more commercials, read about it on the internet. From what I’ve read, it’s a pretty good system. Lots of people mention that it the dinners are actually quite good, and the flexibility of the system is hard to beat. But, I guess the main excuse I give myself is that I don’t have a microwave or fridge at work, so it wouldn’t do me any good during lunch, which is when I’m normally the most prone to improper eating. I already eat a great breakfast, and my wife will usually feed me a good dinner if I go home in time, but it’s the late nights at the office and the long days there that I usually run out and grab a quick and unhealthy bite. Perhaps when we move I’ll look into it again.

But for now, I’m going to imagine that this will solve all my problems, and do it for pretty much the same amount I spend on food anyway. It would be a flawless system. If only…

Here’s one of the ads I’ve found that made me want to do it. I think the fact that it has plans for Men and Women, versus just one meal plan…

Getting beyond 30 second training intervals

Since I've been riding on the exercise bike, I've been doing 60 second intervals. Yesterday I did 10. The way the program on this bike works, there are 60-second intervals followed by 60-second rest periods. They alternate every 60 seconds right from the beginning, but increasing in difficulty before slowly ...

After battling shin splints for too long, I've taken the search for alternative ways to do HIIT lately, especially at the gym. I can do it on an eliptical machine, but I really hate them, and I feel like a complete freak while doing it, so last week I ...

Quick check in: Running still sucks.

So, it'd been a while since I strapped on the sneakers and went for a run. I've been bad. Period. But not as bad as running is. I still can't stand it. My legs hurt today, but more of a slow, ache. I know I'm just not used to asking that ...
